Wags left in tears as they return home from the World Cup

ENGLAND’S Wags, left in tears on the terraces following Englands exit from the World Cup have returned home.

Former One Show presenter had turned up to cheer on her boyfriend Frank Lampard in the match in South Africa but left with that sinking feeling of a brewing England argument between Fabio, the players and the fans..

Christine joined for the crunch game against Germany by John Terry’s wife Toni Poole and Ellie Darby, girlfriend of defender Matthew Upson but the Wags’ support failed to lift the England players, who crashed out 4-1 to their arch rivals Germany. Similarly, Joe Cole’s wife Carly probably hoped her break could have lasted a little longer than just a few days in the country.

John Terry’s wife Toni, Matthew Upson’s girlfriend Ellie Darby and Glen Johnson’s wife Laura were all seen heading back yesterday.

The WAGs were partially blamed for England’s poor showing at the 2006 World Cup, which led to Capello ‘requesting’ that they stay away from the team during the opening games but there’s sure to be an inquisition as to whether or not the WAGS would have helped the team if they turned up in force.

But, It’s not just the WAGs though with their heads in their hands. Teacher Thomas Jones, from Preston, Lancashire, who left after 80 minutes from watching the game on the big screen in Manchester, said the England players should “hang their heads in shame”.

The 28-year-old added: “They think they are world class players but their performances don’t justify their massive salaries. I am embarrassed to be English today.”
