Rio says no to WAGs

Amazingly, England star Rio Ferdinand has said that he would rather the infamous WAGs were not around the squad during this summer’s World Cup. Is he mentally preparing for the Captains Armband since the famous dropping of Terry

The Manchester United and England defender thanks that the players’ wives and girlfriends do not help whatsoever with the teams mental and physical preparations for matches.

Ferdinand said, “The less distractions we have around the tournament the better. Seeing your family at different points, if that’s going to be the case, then fair enough, but it was over the top in the last World Cup. The media latched on to it and it became a big, big thing. But being so far away I don’t think it will be the case this time.”

But, on the captaincy rumors Ferdinand told MSN that he has not actually been called by Fabio Capello to say that he is the permanent England captain. “No, I wouldn’t expect one. I don’t think that’s the way he works and I wasn’t in the squad last time, so until then I’ll keep playing my football for United and whatever comes of it after then.”

World Cup Wags will be in South Africa so if anything we’ll make sure to wave a hello to Rio as were sure they’ll all end up missing their WAGS..
