Not a WAG but as good as in our books..

Kimberley Walsh is following Ex WAG Cheryl Cole (Tweedy) in her own footsteps by bagging her own TV career

The Girls Aloud star will host the unusually-titled Suck My Pop every week for digital channel Viva.

The mix of live music, celeb interviews and showbiz news is the 26-year-old’s first presenting gig.

She said: “It’ll be fun.” It is on July 23 at 7pm and World Cup Wags can’t wait to watch.

Any friend of Cheryl’s is a friend of ours and we can’t wait to see them all out and about dressed to the nines..

So Franky Lampard’s not the most loved person in the footballing world but it turns out he’s got rather important people that dislike him even more…

According to the Daily Star, the BBC have cut short WAG Christine Bleakley’s TV contract after she got together in a relationship with the Chelsea and England midfielder Frank Lampard .  The BBC were furious that she had decided to follow Frank to the World Cup and become a ‘flesh-flashing WAG’ – even though Bleakley has come out saying that she’s no WAG and doesn’t plan on becoming one any time soon..

christine bleakley and frank lampard

So what’s wrong with being a ‘flesh-flashing WAG’ and couldn’t the BBC do with a bit of fresh air being pumped into it?  Sadly it seems not as BBC bosses decided it simply was not befitting of a prime-time presenter to be flaunting it around the nightclubs of London with a footballer on her arm – A Chelsea one at that.

“The BBC doesn’t do WAGs.” an insider told the Star, which is a real shame as we heard Abbey Clancy was setting herself up for a stint presenting the 9 0′clock news.

For Chelsea’s Lamps though it’s just another blow to add to the ‘World Cup goal that never was a World Cup goal’ and the fact that thousands of fans still call him ‘Fat Frank’, despite the fact he’s obviously not eating anything anymore.

Cheer up Frank, if Bleakley will stay with you then we’re sure your scoring quite a few goals..  Wink Wink..

WAG Alert -The Ultimate Manchester United WAG XI.

Posted July 10, 2010 By World Cup Wags

Dan Fitch, from Betfairs Betting.Betfair Blog writes - It’s all very well being brilliant at football, but what use is that if you’ve got no one to cook your dinner for you, or tastefully furnish your Alderly Edge mansion?

Behind every good footballer is a good WAG. Here’s a team of the girls who stand united with the boys from Old Trafford.

Goalkeeper – Evelina Bruhn

Evelina is the missus of Tomasz Kuszczak and our team’s goalkeeper.

Right Back – Leanne Brown

Leanne is married to Wes Brown and is the mother of his two children Halle and Lilia.

Left Back – Sandra Evra

Oh la la… United’s French left-back Patrice Evra is married to Sandra.

Centre Back – Ana Vidic

Most WAGs are interested in their partner’s finances, but very few have a degree in economics like Nemanja Vidic’s wife Ana.

Centre Back – Rebecca Ferdinand

Pity the poor wife of Rio Ferdinand, who has to put up with his daily merking.

Central Midfield – Claire Scholes

Surprised that Scholes’ wife isn’t a minger? Well he has always possessed brilliant ball control.

Central Midfield – Hayley Fletcher

As this picture of Darren Fletcher’s wife Hayley proves, the Scottish midfielder is another United player boxing outside his weight.

Right Midfield – Daniela Martins

Providing some flair on the flanks, is Nani’s girlfriend Daniela Martins.

Left Midfield – Stacey Giggs

Having dallied with Dani Behr and that one out of Hollioakes, Giggsy settled down with his wife Stacey.

Striker – Coleen Rooney

Few WAGs have made better use of their fame than Coleen Rooney, who has carved out a career as a columnist and TV presenter.

Striker – Elena Shtilianov

Dimitar Berbatov may not be the most popular United player, but his girlfriend Elena Shtilianov looks like the star performer in our WAG XI.

Manager – Cathy Ferguson

Our team of pampered WAGs are probably used to receiving the hairdryer treatment at their local salons, so Fergie’s wife Cathy should be able to keep them in line.

Holland Football team REALLY appreciate their WAGs

Posted July 8, 2010 By World Cup Wags

Hey Capello, is this what you should have been doing with the England team?? Dutch WAGs send their heroes off with a kiss to play in the World Cup final…

gertrude kuyt

The Netherlands’ victorious World Cup squad moved in to their new hotel today – and were sent on their way by their clearly adoring wives and girlfriends (WAGs).

Unlike Fabios’ England team, the Dutch aces were not banned from seeing their WAGs and maybe, just maybe, this was the difference between management of the teams and what brought the best out of the players..

And unlike England’s team, Holland have played brilliantly – and now have the Cup itself in their sights.

marrten stekelenburg

Team England had complained bitterly under manager Fabio Capello’s disciplined World Cup regime – which included no WAGs for the duration of the tournament, no game systems to play and no drink at all.

Fabio made headlines in the lead up to the World Cup tournament with the decision, fearing a repeat of the WAGs’ outrageous antics during England’s failed 2006 campaign in Germany, that ALL wives and girlfriends would be banned form coming along to South Africa.

Dutch Wags

At the time he said: ‘We’re going to South Africa to play, not for a holiday. If they don’t want to come for the day only, they should stay home.’

Oh Fabio, would you change your mind if you could? By the looks on the faces of the Dutch stars World Cup Wags would say yes you would…

Alex Curran and Gerrard trying for a baby in September!!

Posted July 7, 2010 By World Cup Wags

Alex Curran, Gerrards WAG, has told OK magazine that they will both be trying (together) for a baby in September..

Liverpool fans unite.. Why don’t they try for babies before the season starts and why September? World Cup Wags has done some HR investigations and it could be down to the maternity leave Alex is after from any one of her jobs (really, no really)..

If you do want to read the whole article, Alex Curran/Gerrard exclusively reveals she’s planning another baby with Steven Gerrard in this week’s OK!

Alex Curran with OK Magazine

The mother-of-two revealed: “I’m happy with my two girls; they’re at a lovely age and are loads of fun…

“Although I think Steven my like a boy at some point in the future.”

She went on: “Lexie starts school in September so that means the house will be quiet, so you never know, we may start trying then!”

Seems like they could be trying to quash some of the Steven Gerrard rumours that are flying around again..

Tess Daly says – WAGS – we needed you!

Posted July 6, 2010 By World Cup Wags

Tess writes for the Mirror and has recently written about how England needed the WAGs during the World Cup..

The World Cup is nearing a close and it was over for England almost before it began.

I’m not a huge football fan I confess but I do like to get behind the team when it’s the World Cup.

However I do draw the line at some of the choice fashions that accompanied the big event – St George’s cross hotpants and string bikini anyone? No thank you very much!

A few weeks ago you couldn’t move in the shops for England shirts. But now the team are home and trying to put their performance behind them, there are a lot of red and white tops in the bargain bins, the three lions looking forlornly for someone to give them a good home.

As we all know though, football fashion no longer begins and ends with novelty T-shirts and dangly football-shaped earrings.

Real fashion and football and now closely linked, thanks in large to the WAGs. And whatever your opinion of the effect of their partner’s performance on the pitch, the absence of the girls at the World Cup was keenly felt.

We needed Abbey Clancey looking Farrah Fawcett fabulous by the pool, we needed Carly Zucker out jogging, making Lycra cycling shorts look cool all over again and we needed Coleen Rooney watching on with baby Kai, giving her husband a much-needed boost.

Abbey Clancy

Coleen always gets my vote in the style stakes, she’s rarely snapped looking anything less than glamorous. Mind you she’s a Liverpool girl, and for anyone who’s spent any time in the city you’ll know those girls know how to do glamour 24/7.

In previous years the ladies have certainly give us girls something to talk about, from early forays into thigh-high boots in the baking heat, hair extensions and OTT fake tans.

But more recently the WAGS have grown up a bit and developed a style, be it a bit bling, that we all want to see – and this year we were left bereft.

And the honorary mention has to go out to the queen of the WAGs Victoria Beckham. She might be the wife of the most famous face in football but she’s every inch the powerhouse in her own right.

Mum of three, member of the biggest girl band of all time, fashion designer and David Beckham at home doing the vacuuming – lucky lady!

So come on Fabio, if you’re still in charge for 2012 bring the ladies with you. They might not improve our footballing chances but will make it all much more interesting for those of us looking for inspiration about what to wear.

As always, when either England or an English team perform badly people start to look for excuses and this one’s a corker.. England captain Steven Gerrard has again been rocked by internet lies over an alleged ‘affair’..

Allegations are rife on the web and down the local pubs that the footballer had an affair with his wife’s 16-year-old sister following England’s defeat by Germany last weekend. Not only this though, John Terry was so miffed that Gerrard was allowed to keep the captaincy that he got disillusioned with England, hence his terrible World Cup performance..

Within hours the rumours had spread across the world through internet football forums, blogs and social networking sites such as Twitter.

Last night though, the claims were dismissed as ‘rubbish’ by insiders – not least on the grounds that Gerrard’s wife, Alex Curran, does not even have a sister.

Media lawyers have warned that it is virtually impossible to stop malicious gossip from spreading on the internet, largely as a result of the growing popularity of social networking sites.

Fan site report that the News of the World are planning to break the story this week – while some sources are suggesting Gerrard has a court injunction to keep the girl quiet.

There are also rumours circulating that Gerrard’s wife Alex Curran has been having an affair with a Derby County player.

According to some sites, Gerrard will leave Liverpool at the end of the season after finding out about the affair.

Of course, it could all be scurrilous gossip with no foundation whatsover. Watch this space.

Baby ‘joy’ for WAGs dream Cristiano Ronaldo

Posted July 4, 2010 By World Cup Wags

The World Cup may have ended in utter disappointment for the ever slick and WAGS dream, but the Portugal captain has a great reason to smile after recently becoming a father.

Ronaldo, who plays for Real Madrid, announced this Sunday that he has been given full custody of his new born from an American woman.

Ronaldo dropped the news in as any young 20 something would, through Twitter, saying:

“It is with great joy and emotion that I inform I have recently become a father to a baby boy,”

Who the would be WAG is though is another question..

The 25-year-old who was knocked out of the World Cup by Spain, is not married to this American woman.

“With the agreement of the mother, who wishes to remain anonymous, I will have exclusive custody of my son,” added the world’s most expensive footballer.

“I request everyone to fully respect my right to privacy [and that of the child] at least on issues as personal as these are.”

Do you want to be like a WAG? Then read on….

Posted June 30, 2010 By World Cup Wags

WAGs… A lot of people think they are just with their men for the glory and money that they provide but more increasingly it seems that normal everyday women are trying to emulate these Wives and Girlfriends and are picking their men for all the wrong reasons..

OK! associate editor Phil Gould explained that ordinary women are increasingly becoming obsessed with becoming an WAG.

“I think it’s their glamorous lifestyles – all the girls who read OK magazine aspire to be a WAG and have their lifestyle really,” he said.

Helping women in this new age pursuit of the perfect fame and money giving husband, OK magazine has launched a Celebspotter app, which lets users find out where the rich and famous have been hanging out in their local area, with the hope that women can start to frequent the same areas as their idols (and maybe hook up with similar men in the process).

However, Lizzie Cundy, who is married to ex-Chelsea player Jason, explained that it is important for women to be true to themselves when choosing a partner.

“I really think you should be with somebody for the right reasons, you have got to. Don’t just be with someone because they are a footballer,” she said.

Mrs Cundy added that if you meet a footballer and really like him then that is great, but not to go looking for a footballer to pair off with just for the sake of it.

World Cup Wags would love to have the WAG lifestyle but unless there is an iPhone app that tells us all where an when we need to be, orders the stretch limo (complete with champers) we’ll just stick to drinking down the local for the time being..

So, do you want to be like a WAG? Really??

Wags left in tears as they return home from the World Cup

Posted June 29, 2010 By World Cup Wags

ENGLAND’S Wags, left in tears on the terraces following Englands exit from the World Cup have returned home.

Former One Show presenter had turned up to cheer on her boyfriend Frank Lampard in the match in South Africa but left with that sinking feeling of a brewing England argument between Fabio, the players and the fans..

Christine joined for the crunch game against Germany by John Terry’s wife Toni Poole and Ellie Darby, girlfriend of defender Matthew Upson but the Wags’ support failed to lift the England players, who crashed out 4-1 to their arch rivals Germany. Similarly, Joe Cole’s wife Carly probably hoped her break could have lasted a little longer than just a few days in the country.

John Terry’s wife Toni, Matthew Upson’s girlfriend Ellie Darby and Glen Johnson’s wife Laura were all seen heading back yesterday.

The WAGs were partially blamed for England’s poor showing at the 2006 World Cup, which led to Capello ‘requesting’ that they stay away from the team during the opening games but there’s sure to be an inquisition as to whether or not the WAGS would have helped the team if they turned up in force.

But, It’s not just the WAGs though with their heads in their hands. Teacher Thomas Jones, from Preston, Lancashire, who left after 80 minutes from watching the game on the big screen in Manchester, said the England players should “hang their heads in shame”.

The 28-year-old added: “They think they are world class players but their performances don’t justify their massive salaries. I am embarrassed to be English today.”
